I'm so glad I decided to go back out last night. Our hotel is on Rue St Jean, and our section of the street was closed to traffic. I heard a Samba (I believe?) band and went to check them out. They were fantastic! Four or five percussionists, and they sang.

I walked up the street to buy some beer, since everyone seemed to be drinking right out in the open and no one seemed to care. When in Rome...
As nice as it is to do the typical touristy things while traveling, my favorite moments are when you just find a quiet spot of your own to relax. I stopped at Artillery Park and made my way up the wall, where other concert-goers were perched. There weren't a lot of people left. I found a spot on the wall to sit. I kicked off my sandals, lit a cigarette and sipped a beer. The weather was hot and sticky, but there was a pleasant breeze. I could have stayed up there for hours.
