Day 3 - Quebec City

We started off today with a nice lunch at my mom's favorite restaurant, St Hubert. It's a rotisserie chicken joint. There used to be quite a few in Ontario, and they've closed. Many a fond memory from when I was a tot.

It started dumping rain just as we were supposed to go for our bus tour to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. We donned cheese-ball tourist ponchos and stuck it out. On the way, we stopped at Montmorency Falls and a chocolaterie on L'Ile D'Orleans. Very enjoyable, despite the rain... especially the Basilica. When we were dropped off and told that we would depart in an hour, I though, "what am I going to do for an hour?" Well, I barely made it back to the bus on time. I found it very powerful and took my own spiritual time-out for a while.

By the time we returned, the street below our hotel was closed to vehicles again and it was time to enjoy some street performances. I LOVED this Japanese group: Shibusashirazu Orchestra. (Video I took)

We grabbed a light dinner, then it was time for me to head to the train station to catch the overnight Ocean train to Halifax. I met a fellow reserve gal from Vancouver who cashed in on the same freebie deal that I did, but was crazy enough to sit in coach class from all the way out there. I also met a civilian employee of the forces traveling from New Brunswick, and a couple from Iowa who were traveling from Vancouver to Newfoundland.

I wish I could say I slept well on the train, but between trying to sleep sitting up and first light hitting at 4:13 am, it wasn't happening. I felt lucky to have caught a few cat naps off and on.
