The Journey Part 1- The Beginning

The scenery is incredible, the accommodations comfortable, meals are amazing, and the people you meet are friendly.

Where is this place you ask?  All of the above took place on our train trip aboard the “Canadian” this past April/ May.

Our adventure started in the Toronto Union Station where we were greeted by VIA’s knowledgeable and hospitable staff.  We were guided to the first class waiting lounge where we were treated to both breakfast and lunch.  The food was very tasty and large quantities were available complete with drinks.  Normally lunch isn’t served in Toronto however due to unforeseen problems that weren’t of VIA’s doing, the train arriving from Vancouver was late which resulted in our train leaving behind schedule.

Via’s staff more than made up for this by doing their best to keep us fed, comfortable and up to date on the changes occurring.  It wasn’t long till we were ready to go.

Once on the train, we settled into a very comfortable and relaxing mood.  The train has a way of soothing your tired spirit and you soon learn to move about to the rhythm of the train and its way of life.

Hi

We were on this train from Vancouver to Toronto in June 2009. We also travelled first class, but did not find the check in as smooth as you.

The only food served while we waited 3 hours to board at Vancouver was a plastic glass with some sort of artificial snack, plus a plastic glass of non discernible soft drink. A bad musician played over loudly!
