On board we meet a group of people from overseas who were amazed at how long it took us to get out of Ontario. Even though we grew up in Ontario and travelled through it on occasion, we too were surprised by not only the vastness of the wilderness in Ontario but also by its rugged beauty. Travelling by train gives you the opportunity to view and experience parts of the province normally you would not be able to see by car.
Even though it was late April and early May many rivers were still frozen and signs of spring were still vacant in different parts of our early journey. Later we experienced different periods of the season depending on which part of the province we were travelling through at that moment.
