The Canada Travel Blog team has created a web site that offers bloggers useful tools for publishing their travel posts and photos. Whether you're a visitor or a blogger, an expert or a newbie, our FAQ section will help you use these tools effectively. Undoubtedly, other questions will be added as more bloggers and visitors use Canada Travel Blog.
We have attempted to stay away from overly technical language. The designation "she" is employed to ease the flow of text, and in no way excludes male bloggers from the blog's terms and conditions.
Canada Travel Blog is the brainchild of truly passionate travellers and is made possible thanks to VIA Rail Canada, which has contributed their expertise and servers to allow bloggers to share their stories and discoveries with thousands of visitors.
With such a vast country, where do you begin? How to decide in which cities and regions to stop? What treasures are to be found in the northern towns of Saskatchewan or Québec? Canada Travel Blog was created to answer these very questions. And our travel experts - who actually do travel - are the bloggers!
The term "blog" is derived from "web log", and refers to a web site in which entries are made in a journal style. Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as politics or fashion, while others function as a personal online diary. As of November 2006, Technorati, a blog search engine, was tracking some 60 million blogs worldwide!
"RSS" is an abbreviation of "Rich Site Summary", although it is sometimes said to stand for "Really Simple Syndication". RSS is an automatically updated list that allows you to see the contents of specific web pages without having to visit numerous sites. RSS-aware programs are available for various operating systems, and can be used as stand-alone programs or as extensions for existing programs such as web browsers. These programs check web sites - or even other blogs - on your behalf and display any updated articles that they find. RSS is extremely useful for displaying new articles from online newspapers and magazines, allowing you to read those articles without having to visit each site. There are numerous RSS formats to choose from. For more information about RSS and blogs in general, we suggest visiting the following sites:
WikipediaAll texts belong to the author, who is solely responsible for what is published in those texts. Therefore, reproducing or distributing blog texts without the express consent of the author goes against the intellectual property laws adopted by the grand majority of world countries. Also, a blog text need not have formal copyright protection in order to be protected: once it is written, it is protected. If you wish to reproduce a blog text published on the Canada Travel Blog site, you must contact the blogger (through her web page) to obtain her permission. Please describe your intentions in detail, and thank the blogger in advance. Also, remember your "Net-iquette" and assure the blogger that you will cite the source of the text.
You can choose to sign your comments with a pseudonym, but we will ask you to leave an e-mail address (visible only to the blogger). Offensive language or the sharing of personal information (such as phone numbers or e-mail addresses) by bloggers (in their posts) or by visitors (in their comments) will not be tolerated on Canada Travel Blog.
Yes... and no. The two sites were created by the same party and share the same navigation, but have distinct URLs so as to identify the blogs by language. Bloggers posting in French publish on Blogue voyage Canada, while bloggers posting in English publish on Canada Travel Blog. If you wish to visit blogs in the other language, you can click on the link in the top right hand corner to switch over.
If you receive a comment from an IP address marked as banned, you have two options in your blog settings. Either choose "Delete" to have the system automatically delete all traces of this comment immediately, or choose "Save and accessible, but flagged as 'Banned'". This second option means that the system will automatically save the comment so that you can access it at any time.
Canada Travel Blog is not responsible for texts and photos published by our bloggers. However, our Terms and conditions do permit us to exercise a certain amount of control over the blogs. For example, in the case of publication of pornographic or illegal texts and photographs, complaints from a third party, the non-authorized sharing of personal information, or plagiarism, Canada Travel Blog reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend access to the blog involved.
You can delete your blog on Canada Travel Blog by logging in and selecting "My Blogs" in the Administration section. Simply check the box next to the blog you wish to delete and click on the Delete button.
Readers enjoy it when bloggers post new writings on a regular basis (many bloggers post several times a week) as it allows them to establish a relationship with the blogger. However, you are not obliged to do so, especially considering the nature of this blog. Canada Travel Blog is about travelling is Canada, so it is expected that bloggers will generally post new writings either while they're travelling or upon their return. In short, it is up to you to decide when and how often you publish. And to repeat what was already mentioned above and in the Terms and conditions, you, as the blogger, carry sole responsibility for the texts that are published, as well as for ensuring that the published images are yours, that you have obtained permission to publish the pictures that are not yours, and that you respect visitors to your blog(s) and other bloggers too. Offensive language, whether they originate from the blogger (in your posts) or from visitors (in their comments) must be excluded from this site.
Our goal at Canada Travel Blog is to help you share travel experiences and hidden treasures you've found in that geographical space north of the United States and bordered by the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans known as Canada. So the answer is NO, you are not barred from mentioning travel to other countries, or comparing Canada to other countries in your posts. However, do keep in mind that Canada Travel Blog was primarily created to help others discover Canada and its regions through journal entries, posts, images and stories.
You may publish images that you have taken, images you have been given permission to publish, and images of people (and places) that you have been given permission to take for publication on the web. In short, although Canada Travel Blog encourages you to add images to your posts, you are solely responsible for the images that you publish.
Canada Travel Blog allows you to modify your blog at any time. Simply click on "My Blogs", select the blog whose name you want to change and click on "Edit". We strongly recommend, however, that you don't change the name of your blog too often as it will confuse your readers. Your blog name is a trademark of sorts!

Of course! Click on the "My Blogs" tab and select "Appearance". You will then be able to browse through numerous template options and choose a new look for your blog - without affecting the content in any way.
