Noonan News in Motion This blog will be a recollection of our 30 day trip from Vancouver Island back to our home in Pickering, Ontario. We arrived in Victoria, B.C. by Ferry from Port Angeles, Washington. After exploring the Island for a few days, we took another ferry to the mainland. After enjoying time in B.C., we travelled around Alberta. We followed the Trans Canada Highway through Saskatchewan and Manitoba, finally returning to Ontario. Coming north and then east around Algonquin Park, we drove south to our home in Pickering.

The Canadian Limited Inspired by a funky movie about train-tripping through India, three friends declared a Canadian journey via rail. Seeking a chance to sink back and enjoy the ride, the train offered us a chance to explore and let go all at the same time. Onward bound!

Railing Canada When I was 11 (1956), my Mother, my Grandmother and me had the good fortune to experience Canada via the 'Canadian' , west to Vancouver from Toronto. I have loved train travel ever since and ride the rails whenever I can. Everyone should see Canada by train - it is an exceptional way to travel. The 'Porters' (train attendents who were there for our every need)were are much fun as the trip itself. The scenery (even for an 11 year old) was spectacular and being on the train, in the observation car (glass domed car) when it went through a train wash was amazing! We have a double bedroom and it was such fun 'folding up the beds' during the day so that we had a sitting room and pulling them down at night for sleep (of course, this was all done for us by the Porters). The slightly rocking train would just lull you to sleep. I remember while dining, that the strawberries were huge! As a matter of fact, every detail of that trip is like it happened yesterday. We met such wonderful people on the train as well, who became life long friends. It is a trip I will never forget and the one that set me to 'loving the rails'

We are starting our adventure in the Rocky Mountains near Jasper and then will do some fishing in Northern Alberta. We will then take the train eastward.
